100+ Flavours Have Only 3 Days Left

Dear DarkStar Customers,

I have some difficult news in this one, so I'll get straight to it.

In the next few days, over 100 flavours are coming off our websites, and most of them will stay off permanently. This is across all product categories: Bottle Shots, Longfills, One Shots, Shortfills, Flavour Concentrates, and 10ml E-liquids. Many hundreds of products will be taken off the site.

This applies not only to the DarkStar website, but all DarkStar family sites too:

• Daily Vapes
• Vapegoo
• Juice Cabin

If there's anything in our catalogue you love, you have until then to order it with a guarantee of getting it. I want to explain this decision properly because you deserve better than seeing most of our products vanish overnight without a clear reason.

Why this is happening

You know the background by now: the vape tax arrives on 1 October, and everything made before that date is tax-free stock. For months our plan has been to build a pile of that stock so we can keep selling at pre-tax prices during the grace period.

What I haven't spelled out before is that the mountain only covers our bestselling 20 to 50 flavours for each product type - more for ranges that sell lots, and fewer in ranges that sell less - for example, we have ~50 reserve flavours for DarkStar Bottle Shots, but far less for the Sweet Vapes Podly range.

Building stock of the entire catalogue would have taken a factory several times our size, so we concentrated on the products that most of you order the most often.

Everything else is made fresh each day as orders come in. From 1 October, every new batch we make carries duty, so daily production of the long tail stops making sense.

What we're doing

In a few days, well before the end of September, every product we don't hold reserve stock for comes off the websites. Doing it early means every order still in the queue going into October can be filled from stock on the shelf, without us needing to make a single new bottle, and nobody is left waiting on a product we can no longer produce.

After that we count. Every de-listed product gets a physical stock count, and whatever returns in October comes back with its exact remaining inventory shown on the site. Once the counter reaches zero the listing comes down, and for most of these flavours it won't go back up. Anything that does return will carry a duty stamp, as the law requires.

What October looks like

Some de-listed flavours will reappear for a while. If we count 60 bottles of something, you'll see 60 bottles on the site, and when they've sold the flavour is gone. I'd treat any reappearance as a bonus rather than a promise.

The bestsellers are a different story. The 20 to 50 flavours we built the reserve for will keep selling without the duty for as long as the stock lasts, as planned.

What this means for you

Today the full catalogue is still live, and everything on it can be ordered and guaranteed. In a few days that stops being true.

So if you have a favourite that isn't an obvious bestseller, order it now. Our stocking-up guide covers quantities and storage if you're planning a bigger order. Concentrates keep for years stored cool and dark, so buying 12 to 24 months of the flavours you rely on is a sensible thing to do, and plenty of you already have.
