An Update On Order Volume & Delays

An Update On Order Volume & Delays

Edited on 21/09/26
Dear DarkStar Customers,

Another short one from me, this time about how busy things are.

If you've read the recent updates, you'll know why: the vape tax arrives on 1 October, everything made before that date is tax-free stock, and a very large number of you have done the maths. Every day right now is running at 3-4x a normal day. We hadn’t seen as many customers stocking up as expected in the first half of this year, and it looks as though the majority have waited to put their large orders in this month.

First, the practical stuff:

What this means for your order

We’re asking that you please allow an extra 2 days, 3 at most. Not weeks. We've brought in extra hands and extra hours to keep the delay to a minimum.

    How orders are being handled

In the order they arrive. No queue-jumping and no favourites. The only exception will be on products that require manufacturing, but these products are prioritised each day and won’t add much time at all.

If your order is waiting on one of the two products above, it holds its place, and the moment stock lands, those orders go out in sequence, oldest first. Nobody who ordered early gets leapfrogged by somebody who ordered late.

Which leads to the obvious point: the earlier your order is in, the earlier in the queue it sits. Stock that's here today is allocated to orders as they come in, and September has another 10 days of this pace to run.

    Will everything get filled?

Yes. That's the one thing I want to be completely clear about. We planned for this period for the better part of a year: stock built ahead, extra storage taken, extra people trained. Orders placed with us will be honoured and shipped, in order, every time. A busy warehouse is a solvable problem.

If anything ever did change on an order of yours, you'd hear it from us directly and in a timely manner.

    The Bigger Picture

The window for pre-tax prices closes on 30 September. After that, every new litre of vaping liquid made in the UK carries duty, and prices across the whole industry change permanently, and that’s why order volumes look the way they do. Our stocking-up guide covers what to prioritise if you're still planning yours.

I'd rather you ordered now than in the last week of September. Partly because your order sits earlier in the queue, and partly because the final days before the deadline will be the busiest this company has ever seen, and I'd like your delivery to be with you asap!

The response since the last update has been extraordinary, and the patience people have shown on the odd delayed parcel even more so. We've got a warehouse full of stock, a team working flat out, and four weeks to get as much of it into your cupboards as we can.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Get your order in, and leave the rest to us.

This last time I order from here been 5 days now still not dispatched which means now if it sent tomorrow that’s 7 days from order date and now am nearly out so will have to go to a local store which now will cost me another £30

    Shambles.
The fact that there hasn’t been an update for over two weeks highlights the contempt the management have for their customers.
I hope the company enjoys being busy, I believe this will be short lived, I can’t see many customers remaining loyal after this. I have been using Daily Vapes/Darkstar for many years, but I will never order again.

How about a new update, it has been over 2 weeks since the last update. When will you have new/any stock in available for ordering. Will my new supplier remain as my permenant go to man or will it be temporary, I know what will happen if it’s not sorted very soon. 😤

How can a company not plan ahead for this. They knew about this month’s in advance. Poor planning. I will now be moving to a new provider. Been with Darkstar for so many years. Disappointing

At what point will there be an update? It seems the slight delay is an under estimate clearly… no one has heard anything and orders are taking a longer time clearly the least you could do is send an update.

    Just want to apologise.
Although I did apologise upfront in my email request about my two delayed orders.
I have only just read your notification on your website here, explaining the craziness of things, and that you are trying your best to fulfill all orders within an extra two or three days delay.
Unfortunately the one , I have been waiting 9 days on, without any notifications or update on if/when shipment will happen. And this is based off me telling you of an order issue I received 16 DAYS ago now! Off an order EIGHTEEN DAYS back, that I am only expecting ONE item from the messed up order. I do find this slightly unfair. Although as I said it has only been 9 days since it was promised to be sorted out. Again, it was order # 198124.
The other has only been 4 days, so that is excusable. As you have already notified us, (if I’d have noticed your website information display thingy), that things are super busy and so to expect a 3 day delay. So I am assuming that means at least a week for delivery, depending on weekend. Luckily I order Sundays, usually, so according to your NEW 6 DAY total estimated delivery times, I should expect by Saturday. So my 4 day old order is within your explanation, and that’s fine and I understand and appreciate it must be difficult if loads of people are bulk buying last few weeks in September. But I only am expecting ONE item from 18 days ago. And the other order is just two of the same items. So not massive bulk buy orders. But I understand you want to stick to your order queue. So even though my order and previous order problem are small. I must wait my turn, like every one else.
But i just would like, if at all possible, an update on the order/s? Especially the one from 18 days ago, that I was told would be sorted 9 days ago! Thank you

So paying for 24hr delivery like I have on 2 occasions, I did not receive my goods in that time.
So i am being charged for a service that cannot be delivered. £5 for 24hr dispatch is nearly half the cost of a 10ml shortfill with nic shots.
I understand about the VAT thing and stockpiles, however if you cannot deliver in the time as described, please dont advertise that you can. And you going to send free liquid as a goodwill gesture or refund for the 24hr delivery cost.
